"Necessity, not novelty," is a phrase I use often when it comes to HoloLens development. It would be fair to call it my mantra, or mission statement, as I prototype and explore software creation on this new frontier of mixed reality. "What kind of experiences will keep people using these devices until the batteries run dry?" This is a question that drives me constantly. As a software developer, those discoveries are the heart of the journey. And if they are not the end goal for some, they are on

We are the OpenSource team and that doesn’t mean just software we contribute to, it’s all OpenSource, especially Linux (general Linux) I glad I get to be the first person to tell you MSFT has changed.

The more I look into this, I will say that unless the Linux Distro or KDE teams take some issue with this (and I haven't seen that anywhere), I take this as David has pointed out: MAUI is an acronym and not the name of the project.

Information about what F# IDEs are developed, what are alternatives and what F# Team is doing is easily accessible. I can’t think for every person in the internet. It’s all even listed on MSFT marketing page about F# -

Even with Defender forced off, the I/O is still terrible. The WSL team claims they know and working on it. For two years now. It's my biggest grief with WSL -- I still use it, I can't do desktop Linux any more, I tried for 17 years.

Microsoft Teams for Linux now available in public preview

richturn_ms 20 Aug 2018
Yep. @tara_msft is working closely with the team who're investigating potential several options. Other than disk perf, WSL perf generally matches or exceeds Linux on the same tin.

We decided to stop working on Windows. You've been relocated to the Linux team ;)

I have seen the onedrive and ms teams uservoice ones you have mentioned and it would be great if MS actually did those things, speaking of MS Teams, , check out that gentlemen he basically ported it to Linux for MS and packaged it for nearly everything cont

DHowett 28 Oct 2019
WSL, probably.. Terminal team’s job is getting text mode applications onto the screen, and WSL’s job is getting Linux applications running on Windows. Making them useful is another story ;)

Sounds great, was also chatting w/ KY who runs the MSFT Linux kernel dev. team about upstreaming.

rodolfor Jan 14
I see what you mean. My original tweet was about small teams, that can't compete with the resources of entities like MSFT. Bitcoin is a different beast, as it's audited if we use the Linux kernel codebase they still find vulns from time to time.

cra 4 Sep 2017
congrats, and co are building quite the team out there! <insert this is the year of the Linux on the desktop joke>

FancY__Hat 3 Oct 2019
Agreed. I work in a place, where teams Outlook and Skype for Business are heavily utilized. But since my entire department is on Linux, we have to use the web versions. Not efficient

robinmhdadswell 25 Jun 2019
Don't forget about the wonders of PowerShell Core over Windows PowerShell, the ability to easily switch between the 2 in the is even better, and then pair it with a Linux Distro!
